RM 2 has 18 instrument pads. So you can see the most important data of all instruments at once.
Output With this button you route the instrument to the stereo output or to one of the six individual outs. When the button is lit the signal is sent to stereo out and you'll find a Pan slider next to it. If it is depressed another six buttons will appear right of it allowing you to select the desired individual output.
Name You can give your instrument a descriptive name here. This makes it easier to keep track of your kit.
Pan When the stereo output is assigned you can adjust the pan position with this fader. On stereo samples, the pan slider balances the left and right channel. On mono samples it positions the mono signal in the stereo panorama. Holding down the Ctrl-key of your keyboard while clicking on it will center exact to the middle of the stereo panorama.
Level Adjusts the instrument Volume. If the instrument consists of several samples, all samples are affected.
Solo Works like you expect it from a mixer: clicking on it lets RM 2 only play this instrument.
Mute Mutes the whole instrument (switches all samples in this instrument off).
Edit This light indicates that the instrument is currently shown on the edit panel of RM 2 located on the left. You can choose another instrument by clicking on the Trigger / Activity button or changing any parameter located on an instrument pad.
Trigger / Activity The light indicates that the instrument has been triggered. It stays lit until all samples in that instrument have finished. When you click the pad the instrument is triggered with maximum velocity (127). So when you have velocity zones, only the samples for the maximum velocity are triggered. Choke This button let you select different choke modes:
No Choke applied
Whenever this instrument is triggered the instrument left of it will be muted
Whenever this instrument is triggered the instrument right of it will be muted
Selects this instrument for choke group 1. Whenever this instrument is triggered all other instruments in group 1 will be muted
Selects this instrument for choke group 2. Whenever this instrument is triggered all other instruments in group 2 will be muted
Tune Allows you to tune the whole instrument up to 2 octaves up or down. Special effort has been taken to keep the sample free of distortion and artefacts. The display indicates the relative tuning in semitones. The setting of this parameter does not affect the pitch envelope.
